Shriver Job Corps is part of a no-cost education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps young people ages 16 through 24 improve the quality of their lives through career technical and academic training. We support the Job Corps program's mission of teaching eligible young people the skills they need to become employable and independent and placing them in meaningful jobs or further education.
Responsible for the management of outreach and admissions and career transition activities in compliance with government and management directives.1.Plan, coordinate and supervise the administrative and programmatic activities of the department.2.Evaluate staff performance, provide staff training and implement department and personnel changes as approved by the project director prior to implementation.3.Monitor and control expenditures; review and recommend changes to budget authorizations.4.Assist in the development and implementation of new policies, procedures and programs affecting OA and CT services.5.Assess and audit outreach/career advisor and transition coordinator offices regularly for contractual compliance and quality of services to students and centers. Prepare audit and assessment reports.6.Direct the activities of the admission counselors to ensure recruitment of students is at contracted strength.7.Oversee the delivery of career transition services, placement of students and former enrollees, and placement follow-up actions.8.Coordinate career transition efforts with placement contractors, regional/national DOL offices, military, schools and other job placement agencies.Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or closely related field, and two years related supervisory experience; or Associate's degree and four years related supervisory experience required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency also required. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
