Shriver Job Corps is a training facility located in Devens, MA that serves underprivileged youths from ages 16 - 24. Students can join the following trades: Automotive, Carpentry, Cement Masonry, Computer Technician A+, Computer technician network+, Culinary, Nurse Assistant/Home Health, Office Administration, Painting, Advanced Computer System Administration, and Advanced Transportation.
Reports to the career development services manager. Responsible for providing proper case management of students to ensure positive group living relations and achievement in the program, in compliance with government and management directives.Essential Functions:
+ Conduct personal intake assessments to identify student needs and develop strategies to meet them.
+ Initiate and maintain an individual counseling folder on each assigned student.
+ Provide support services to students with personal needs or problems, i.e., sickness, injury, family problems, leaves, and absence without leave (AWOL) retrieval, referrals to community resources, and conferring with parents and other staff as needed.
+ Provide continuous educational, career technical student training (CTST), personal and social adjustment counseling on an individual and group basis; recommend necessary program modifications throughout each assigned student?s stay in conjunction with students and case management team.
+ Review and update student?s personal career development plan (PCDP) and evaluations of progress. Point out areas of improvement. Conduct full case management panels as needed. Maintain documentation and records.
+ Utilize new concepts and approaches; recommend and conduct training sessions and conferences to develop greater proficiency among staff in areas of guidance and social adjustment.
+ Recommend medical and psychiatric evaluation for emotional and psychological problems; evaluate results and take remedial actions as warranted; participate as a member of the mental health team.
+ Refer students to other program areas such as transfer, extension or advanced programs, college placement, etc.
+ Assist in the evaluation of center services for students and recommend modifications for improvement.
+ Conduct a variety of special programs and provide group counseling on student issues as needed.
+ Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment.
+ Provide positive, quality customer service to students, staff and other center customers.
+ Ensure students learn and practice set behavioral expectations that support employability and social development for career readiness success.
+ Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps? Zero Tolerance Policy.
+ Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
+ Maintain accountability of staff, students and property; adhere to safety practices; attend all required training.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.Education and Experience Requirements:Bachelor?s degree including 15 semester hours of social services related instruction and one year related experience. Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required. Valid driver?s license with an acceptable driving record.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
